"For your actions of excellence and the joy in which it was done, I present this Commander's Coin to you" "Giving a Commander's Coin is not just a gesture, and a coin is not a hollow memento. Coins have become an emblem of esprit-de-corps for military units. They are used to commemorate meaningful achievements." MyoTechnology performs rehabilitation and restorative work on soldiers returning from active duty in order to help them restore balance and resiliency back into their daily lives. Resiliency is rooted in physical, mental and spiritual fitness. Multiple deployments and too little down time has strained our soldiers to the limit and the overwhelming stress these men and women live under can manifest physically. Through Spectrum Health Center, MyoTechnology's clinical arm, we have helped multiple soldiers transition from active duty to civilian life by addressing physical injuries and physically manifested stress through multiple MyoTechnology modalities such as vibration and percussion therapy, myofascial release, diet and nutritional supplements and corrective exercises. The Army has recognized MyoTechnology's efforts by awarding it the "Commanders Coin of Excellence," a program that recognizes and honors deserving service members and civilians for contributions and/or performance that exceeds expectations. Soldier - Ronald Nunez
"With four tours of military duty in the Middle East, my body was in a state of constant physical stress. I was wearing body armor plates all day in the front and back of my uniform, plus carrying all of my equipment and helmet, it weighed 90 pounds easily. Then, sitting for hours during convoys puts tremendous strain and pressure on you and twists your back. After only two sessions with the cr17 MyoStim, I achieved a level of muscle relaxation that helped sustain me through another four months of duty. I felt like a big weight had been lifted off me and I felt tremendously better physically, and surprisingly enough, emotionally as well. It helped me to recover from the long term combat fatigue and stress that affects most soldiers when returning home from active duty. There wasn't anything else that worked as quickly and efficiently for me, and helped me to reintegrate back into civilian life faster than I expected. I also was hit by an incoming mortar round that shattered my ankle and tore four tendons. My ankle was so swollen and painful, I couldn't even wear my boots which is dangerous when you're in a war situation. Manny was able to address this problem which released the pain, enabling me to even jog on it when needed. I got all of these results during a two week leave. It's made a tremendous difference in my life". Athlete - Matt Smith
"The cr17 Hurricane really helped to increase my
speed in the pool by quickening my reflexes. The vibration helped my
muscles react much more quickly which definitely contributed to my
quick start out of the blocks, enabling me to qualify as a top ranked
swimmer. Thanks for the great work!" EINDHOVEN, NETHERLANDS -Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology graduate Matt Smith has provisionally qualified for the 2008 Olympic Games in the 100-meter breaststroke after reaching the Olympic qualification time on Monday. Smith, a 2003 mechanical engineering graduate, surpassed the Olympic qualifying mark of 1 :03.72 with his performance of 1:03.29 in the 100-meter breaststroke at the 29th Annual European Swimming Championships. Smith, who holds dual citizenship in the United States and Estonia, would represent the nation of Estonia at the 2008 Olympics if his qualification time remains the nation's best effort on July 15. His time currently ranks No.1 by more than a second over countryman Martin Lilvamagi, who completed the course in a time of 1 :04.86, and stands as No. 51 in the world this year. Vibration Therapy Brings the Tango Back to this RN's Step
Registered nurse Karen Thomas and her husband love ballroom dancing, especially the tango, the dance of romance and passion. Unfortunately, she hadn't been able to enjoy her hobby in several years due to cervicalgia, literally translated in medical circles as a "pain in the neck." With cervicalgia, neck movements become severely constricted from spasms in the muscles of the neck. Because the neck muscles are constantly under tension to hold the head up, they can tear from sudden activity and cause chronic pain due to the tightening of those muscles. In addition to her movement restrictions, Karen's cervicalgia was also giving her blinding headaches at the end of a day of work. Cervicalgia is so common that two-thirds of the population have neck pain at some point in their lives. Structurally, the top three joints in the neck enable the movement of the neck and head while the lower joints in the neck and those of the upper back create a supportive structure for the head to sit on. If this support system is affected adversely, then the muscles in the area will tighten, often leading to the debilitative neck pain of cervicalgia. Typical treatment includes local heat treatment, pain-killers, rest, muscle relaxants and physiotherapy, but the pain can be a prolonged, drawn out process. In fact, sometimes a special neck collar is required to help the muscles rest. Karen sought out massage therapy as a possible solution to her problem and went to see Sports Therapist Manny Camara. In addition to traditional massage, Manny also used an innovative vibration therapy technique that transmits high level vibrations from the muscle's point of origin along the muscle body to the point of insertion, offering healing qualities to painful body regions. A quick, safe, and successful treatment modality, vibration therapy prompts overly tight muscles to release by overcoming the muscles resting rate of 8 to 16 hertz. The percussive vibrations confuse the muscles and tendons, forcing them to naturally relax in a pain-free manner. The up to 30 hertz delivered by the cr17 MyoStim vibration generator accelerates the healing process by activating the body's self-healing capacities through breaking up adhesions in and between tissue, thereby stimulating the metabolism and improving the blood and lymphatic circulation. As a result, damaged tissue gradually regenerates and eventually heals. The use of stimulating vibrations as a non-pharmacological method to reduce muscular strain and eliminate trigger points is a scientifically recognized therapy approach. A gentle treatment with an excellent healing rate, vibration therapy has a wide range of applications and can be used without the use of anesthetic for problems such as sports injuries, cervicalgia, joint pain, stiffness, tennis elbow, frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulatitis), bone spurs (calcaneous), iliotibial band friction syndrome, repetitive motion injury, shin splints and even TMJ (temporomandibular joint syndrome), However, the cr17 MyoStim is not just a vibration generator device itself, but includes the Camara Myofascial Method in order to provide a complete solution resulting of product and medical protocol necessary to deliver an efficient and proven therapy method. After just two or three sessions, most patients report to be free or to feel a significant pain reduction, resulting in the kind of restored mobility and quality of life Karen Thomas experienced as a result of her treatment. She no longer has a restriction in her mobility, and on top of that, her husband is ecstatic that she doesn't always have a headache, especially when they are ready to retire for the night. Now the only issue was her constant teeth grinding during sleep. In fact, Karen had ongoing issues with teeth grinding and the inability to chew on the right side of her mouth her entire life. At times, her jaw would even lock when her mouth was open, causing her a lot of pain in her temporal area. Karen was diagnosed as having Temporomandibular Joint Disorder, (TMJ) which is usually caused by the misalignment of bones which form the jaw and causes symptoms such as chronic headaches, migraines, neck pain, pain behind the eyes, congested ears and popping of the jaw. Like Karen, many sufferers of this disease clench and grind their teeth at night and during the day, which only aggravates the delicate muscle and bone structures in the jaw and makes the symptoms worse. However, after only two treatments with the cr17 MyoStim, she noticed a significant difference. "My teeth on the right side of my mouth actually touched each other for the first time in my life," Karen commented. "I am able to really enjoy eating like I never have before, I haven't had any pain in my temporal lobe since and my jaw hasn't locked up even once. That's pretty amazing with a problem that modern dentistry has been trying to solve for over 30 years." According to Karen's husband, the annoying teeth grinding has stopped completely, and now the two are out tangoing with the best of them. Karen went on to say that "I really believe in this treatment and it has changed my life dramatically. Not only does it work fast, it doesn't even hurt while it's working which is amazing. A pain management product that solves the problem without pain is worth its weight in gold."
